Lisa & George’s Wedding DJ at Eastnor Castle

I’m going to start off this Blog by telling you one of the most random of coincidences that I have ever experienced in my life. Back in February, I took the family out for a nice walk over the Malvern Hills and when we stopped for a rest, we sat down and enjoyed the view. In that view (just slightly to the right) was Eastnor Castle in Ledbury and after a few minutes, my phone vibrated – it was an email from Lisa & George asking if I was available to be their Wedding DJ. I’ll give you three guesses where…

I think that it’s obvious that I love to put a good-sized rig in wherever I perform and when I imagined performing in a castle, I had visions of huge rooms offering plenty of space. Turns out that while Eastnor Castle is vast as a whole, the space I was to rig for created a bit of a challenge as the truss plinths and gantry systems that I use are simply too big. I’ve seen many times in the past other Mobile Disco providers try to shove so much kit in such a small space and it looks cluttered and horrible.

The Octagon Room is intimate – certainly not a room that needs a full installation but smaller doesn’t mean not as good. It’s still the same theatre and club influenced computer-controlled lighting that I use at each and every event but configured in a way that works best for that room. You can see in the photos (yup, I took the picture taking machine out with me again!) that the level of lighting works stunningly well and when we add in a crisp sound system, Eastnor Castle turned into a great place to party for Lisa, George & Co.!

Dancing to a wide range of songs from different genres and decades, this audience was lovely to perform for and towards the end of the night, we dialled back the volume and wound things down so these newlyweds can sit with their guests and unwind after such an amazing day. Congrats Lisa & George!
