Nuthurst Grange is one of those fantastic venues where I get to perform at once every couple of years. The nature of being a Wedding DJ means that I do get to travel quite a lot and when you add in the fact that I am a recommended supplier for several other top-quality venues, my diary gets filled with a variety of dancefloors to rock. Coming back to Nuthurst Grange, though, is always an occasion.
Earlier in the year, a partner DJ of mine asked me if I would like to provide Kelsey & Matt with a mobile disco for their big day. Naturally, I looked at the diary in a confused manner – “I can’t work Nuthurst”, said I. “I was only there a few months ago for Vicky & Sam – I’m not due back there for another two years!” Needless to say, my attempts at humour merely confused the poor soul, so he just made the introductions via email (no doubt muttering something rude about me under his breath while doing so) and left me to it.
Fast forward a few months and I met up with Kelsey & Matt a few weeks before their wedding to chat about what they like, as well as finding out what their guests like to listen to. While Matt spent lots of time fussing my dog, I got to learn that this couple really like a bit of Kisstory. That certainly gave me a good base to build their night – Dance, Garage, RnB and Old Skool Anthems. On top of that, they wanted some variety in there to ensure everybody got up to have a bit of a dance.
And dance they did! From the current stuff, to Motown, to Disco, to 80s, to 90s Pop…that floor was rocking! When we entered the part of the night where the 00s Dance Bangers came out to play, along with the tunes you would hear on Kisstory, everybody on that dancefloor danced the night away. It was certainly a memorable night with moments that will no doubt bring a smile to the face of everyone there.
