Sophie & Gareth's Wedding DJ at Barns & Yard

The nature of being a professional Wedding DJ is that I get to work at so many different venues across the Midlands (and, sometimes, further afield). Performing at new venues is always a lot of fun, but I must admit that seeing familiar faces at my regular haunts just adds that extra bit of fun to what I do. I am proud to be the preferred supplier of DJ entertainment at quite a few venues, and that includes the stunning Barns & Yard in Worcestershire. I was there not too long ago to rock the dance floor for Sophie, Gareth and all of their loved ones, and we had a damn good night!

Sophie & Gareth wanted to make sure that everyone had an amazing night, so they were very keen on the idea of having a wide variety of genres and decades. This is not a problem for me at all, as making sure that everyone hears something that they will enjoy very much falls within my wheelhouse.

But something else that falls in my wheelhouse is making sure that this isn’t just a generic party. It is important for everyone to enjoy themselves, and it is also just as important that the night is distinct to you. Finding that balance is something that I do each and every week, and that’s why I love performing as a DJ at weddings over any other event.

So what is the soundtrack of Sophie & Gareth? Disco, Motown, Soul & 90s Pop were very much the dominant features in their tastes in music. During our pre-wedding chat, artists like Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Abba, Shakira, Michael Jackson and Coldplay appeared, but they also had requests for Bowie, Springsteen, Nelly, The Strokes, Tom Petty – definitely plenty to work with!

After their first dance of Yellow by Coldplay, Sophie & Gareth’s guests piled onto The Threshing Barn dance floor, and Barns & Yard rocked until the midnight hour! Thankfully, Jonny Barratt was on hand to capture those enthusiastic dancers doing their thang!
