2019 has been pretty eventful so far. Not only have I performed at lots of weddings already (even going as far as documenting a few in the Blog), as well as trying something a little bit different, I have had the chance to work with some fantastic couples who all want to have a great time. Allow me to introduce you to a great example of this: Rachel & Luke, a delightful couple who had recently gotten married at Curradine Barns in Shrawley.
In a couple of months’ time, I will have been doing this job for 19 years and since the age of 15, I had never played a song sung by Kiefer Sutherland. Yup, you read that right. Jack Bauer serenaded Rachel and her dad for the traditional Father & Daughter dance. It was surreal, but ‘Song For A Daughter’ is actually a really nice song and something a little different.
From there, the party was on! We managed to get a wide variety of styles in to ensure that everyone heard and danced to something that they would enjoy (we even got some Ballroom on for Nan & Grandad), but the overriding themes of the night were 80’s and Hip Hop, with the last hour very much being dedicated to the latter. Featuring great tunes from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Ice-T to more modern acts like Macklemore, Lil Nas X and Drake, Rachel & Luke's wedding at Curradine Barns felt more like a club night, especially with my computer-controlled lighting – definitely not your typical ‘mobile disco’ here, thank you very much!
