Yardleys School Prom DJ at The Manor Hotel

As you may have spotted, particularly if you follow me on social media, one of my regular roadies that I work with at events is my nephew, who we all lovingly refer to as Spud (even some of my clients and their guests!).  Spud has just finished his GCSEs, and when I had a call earlier in the year from one of his teachers asking if I would provide the entertainment for the School Leaver’s Prom at The Manor Hotel in Meriden, my answer consisted of three words – count me in!

I’ve performed at The Meriden a few times over the years, mostly for weddings and as a DJ who predominantly performs at weddings, it’s nice to occasionally do something a little different and to say that this prom was different would be an understatement.

One of Spud’s teachers told me last night about the DJ that was booked for last year’s prom, where he apparently played the sort of songs that a lot of my clients dread – Saturday Night, YMCA, Cha Cha Slide etc., and went on to say that all of these songs were released before the kids were born.  I don’t know how well those songs went down last year, but I do know that we were going in a different direction this year.

Dance, RnB, Pop, Hip Hop, Grime and Bollywood was the theme of the night, all complemented by Nightclub grade sound and lighting.  Despite the sound limiter, I was able to create an atmosphere that had The Manor Hotel’s dancefloor rocking.  Giving 16 years olds a bit of a taster of what it would be like in a nightclub was always going to cause a lot of excitement, and these school leavers did not disappoint.  On the spot remixes, acapellas, lots of jumping and even a mosh pit – this was no pub function event!

Sadly, I didn't get to take any photos of this party as I was far too busy having fun, but The Spud did take a quick video of a very lively dancefloor!

Having an awesome party to say thanks for the memories is always such good fun and having a quality DJ with a setup that is far above what you would expect from a typical ‘mobile disco’ really adds a touch of class.  If you’d like to see your guests rocking a dancefloor, then click the button below to drop me a message.
