Lucy & Liam's Wedding DJ at Mythe Barn
Mythe Barns is one of those wedding venues that I know very well, but I don’t get to be a DJ there week in, week out. In fact, Mythe Barn is what I call one of my Birthday Wedding Venues, in that I’m usually only there once a year. Occasionally those visits are pushed to twice a year, but only if I’m feeling King’s Birthday-like (‘kinell…I’m stretching this out so much that I pulled a muscle in my back just reading those three sentences again!). Lucy & Liam’s summer wedding at Mythe Barn was a hot and sticky night, but still featured some damn good dance floor action.
With guests filtering into the Oak Barn in the lead up to the first dance, this wedding DJ could tell that there was a buzz of anticipation for the night’s festivities. The low hum of conversation reverberating around Mythe Barn was a good indicator of that excitement, but I’ll admit that the waving of glow sticks was more of a giveaway. It was subtle, but I did pick up on it.
When it was go time, the newlyweds were accompanied into the Oak Barn by whoops and cheers - Lucy & Liam had made their grand entrance, and got straight into it by swaying to their first dance of ‘Let’s Stay Together’ by Al Green. With the formalities done and dusted, the dance floor immediately opened up to what seemed like an early evening mosh pit!
Chatting to Lucy & Liam in the weeks leading up to their wedding, I got the chance to get to know them a little bit and find out what music it is that they and their guests love to dance to. From Tay-Tay to Serani, Robin S to The Pigeon Detectives, with a sprinkle of Van Morrison and Abba, everybody at this wedding was given a chance to bust their moves on Mythe Barn’s dance floor to something that they enjoy.
Of course, there was that variety of genres and decades. Thinking about it though, the overall theme of the night was combination of Kisstory, late noughties/early 10s Snobs, and a few Pop Punk and Emo tunes to satisfy the teenage dirtbags in attendance. It takes an expert wedding DJ to curate a set like that, and that’s exactly what I did!
In attendance to capture all of these shenanigans was the award-winning David Boynton. David’s approach to wedding photography is pure, unadulterated enthusiasm – a personality trait that can only be described as infectious! One of the more genuine wedding photographers that we’ve worked with, David juxtaposes his enthusiasm with a down-to-earth style that his clients love. Not only that, as you can see from some of the photos that David has kindly allowed me to use for this Blog, the man can take a pretty decent picture too!
