Remember me? I used to update this Blog page regularly to tell you the stories of some amazing wedding parties that I have had the pleasure of DJing at. For the last year and a bit though, there hasn’t been a lot of parties for me to tell you about (damn you, Covid-19!), but now that we’re slowly creeping towards some semblance of normality, I’ve been darting across the Midlands like a headless chicken, rocking those dancefloors at weddings, and do you know what? Even after more than a year off, I’ve still got it, baby! Let me tell you about Lauren & Ash’s wedding at Shustoke Barn in Warwickshire.
Where do I start with these two? These guys are absolute legends and along with their friends and family, they knew how to have a damn good party. When I had a chat with Lauren and Ash in the weeks leading up to their big day, it was established very quickly that their love for house music knows no bounds. It actually got to the point where we stopped talking about their wedding for a while and just chatted about the culture of house music, and I was surprised to learn that out of all the festivals that Lauren & Ash have been to, these two still haven’t been to Tomorrowland. Heresy, thought I!
Well, if this delightful couple haven’t had the chance to go experience house music in Belgium, then it was up to us to bring Belgium to Warwickshire. And oh how we did that!
No first dance for this wedding, so when the time was right, we jumped straight into the party. Of course, house music played a big part of the night (playing Marea seemed appropriate too!), but we also managed to have lots of variety to ensure that everyone heard something during the night that they would enjoy. From RnB, to Motown, to Reggae and even a little bit of Indie, guests were swinging off the chandeliers all night long. After such a long time of being restricted from friends and family, Lauren & Ash’s wedding was a cathartic experience for everyone, and the stunning setting of Shustoke Barn added to the occasion.
Of course, based on their choice of venue and DJ, Lauren & Ash obviously have good taste. This was further epitomised when I found out who their photographer was – it was only Darren Gair! Regular stalkers of this website will know that Darren is a favourite around these parts, and as one of the most respected and sought-after photographers in the Midlands, it’s always a joy to work with him (he also likes to hang around when it’s a good party!).
