You may have spotted throughout this website that I often mention meeting up with my clients before their events to talk about the music that they like and how I use that info to create a night where everyone will hear something that they will enjoy, but the main theme of the night would be your event as opposed to just a generic mobile disco. A perfect example of this in action was Kim & Matt’s marquee wedding at Whittington Cricket Club in Lichfield and I had a lot of fun being their Professional Wedding DJ!
The newlyweds had recently gotten married in Bath – a destination that means a lot to the pair of them – so the big ol’ knees up back in Lichfield was for all the friends and family who couldn’t make the journey. There’s something awesome and pure about starting with the ‘blank canvas’ of a marquee and Kim & Matt worked tirelessly to get everything perfect from organising said marquee, to sorting out all the decorations, booking a [subjectively] handsome DJ and everything else in between. All that was needed was there to be a lovely September evening, so you can guess what happened, can’t you?
It rained. A lot. And it was flippin’ freezing! So much so that I had to pop on my hat and gloves!
I think that it’s safe to say that over the last few blog entries, I have made it pretty obvious that I am in a state of mourning when it comes to the Summer of 2018. The weather was so good that somebody, somewhere, is going to have to re-write that Bryan Adams song because I refuse to acept that 1969's summer can hold a candle to the summer of 2018. We became so spoiled by that good weather that it’s now much easier to feel the harsh transition from a hot August to a cold September – I think that a reasonable argument can be made to insert an extra month between August and September so that the weather transition doesn’t seem so harsh. I digress…
Despite the weather, spirits were not dampened! While some guests sought refuge in the main club itself (where, along with the heating, the bar is situated), Kim, Matt & some of their closest friends and family helped heat up that marquee with their raving. Earlier in the night, there was an even spread of music ranging from Pop, to Soul, to Motown, to Indie, to Rnb and more.
However, this party will be remembered for the last hour – Drum & Bass, Dubstep and House! Pendulum, DJ Hazard, Skrillex, DJ Fresh, Prodigy, Chase & Status…this was not a typical wedding! Add in some House Music along with my creative flair, to say that Kim & Matt’s wedding ended in a bit of a rave would be an understatement! Crazy dancing and jumping up high with arms aloft were clearly mandatory on this dancefloor and it made me glad that I bought the big sound system for that extra oomph (one of them technical phrases, that!).
Kim, Matt & Co. I salute you – you all played a blinder!
Some people love the idea of a rave at the end of their wedding. Others want to hear their favourite Indie anthems from their Uni days. You may want something else, so it’s important to book a Wedding DJ that will work with you to make sure that your perfect day gets the incredible night that it deserves.
