Jen & Alex's Wedding DJ at Hampton Manor
The enchanting Warwickshire venue of Hampton Manor set the stage for an unforgettable celebration as I rocked up to DJ for Jen and Alex's wedding. From heartwarming moments to swinging off the chandeliers, the atmosphere on this night was brimming with joyful fun, all perfectly complemented by an incredible mix of music.
As you would imagine, the party kicked off with Jen & Alex taking centre stage for their first dance. As the soulful strains of ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes filled the room, Jen and Alex glided across the dance floor like they had practicing oh-so-hard for weeks! The bar had certainly been set by the newlyweds when it came to the quality of dancing.
Did their guests live up to that standard? Well…no. Don’t get me wrong, they danced heartily all night, but it wasn’t so much ‘choreography’ as it was more ‘stumbling around in a bouncy fashion’. The latter is very much my kinda dancing!
Throughout the night, I weaved together an eclectic mix of music to ensure that each guest found their rhythm, got a chance to be lost in the music and have a damn good time in the process. From chart-topping hits to nostalgic classics, the dance floor at Jen & Alex’s wedding will certainly go down in Hampton Manor history.
Pop enthusiasts found themselves singing along to catchy choruses, while aficionados of dad rock swayed and air-guitarred (well…air-banjo’d!) to anthems from their favourite bands. The classic hip-hop anthems had everyone pretending that they knew every lyric to ‘The Next Episode’ and ‘Gravel Pit’ before I dropped ‘Numb/Encore’.
That’s right kids – we had reached the point of the night where we needed to transition from hip-hop, because it was time for everyone to let loose and embrace their inner teenage dirtbag!
The dance floor transformed into a mosh pit of pop-punk and emo classics, showcasing the nostalgia and energy of an era where red ties and black eyeliner were the norm. From blink-182 to My Chemical Romance, guests revelled in the opportunity to relive their youth and belt out lyrics that defined a generation.
On hand to photograph all of this fun was Scott Bytheway from Blue Finch Photography. Scott is a Birmingham boy who used to be a DJ too, and with that experience, Scott knows what a good DJ can do for a wedding party. You can just tell how he loves getting into position to capture the dodgy dance moves that you only ever see from drunk people at a wedding.
Whether it’s getting into the hustle and bustle of a busy dance floor to get the shot or working with his team to get those fun snaps of people wearing silly hats and oversized sunglasses at his photo booth, Scott busts his ass to deliver the best photos for his clients, and I’m delighted to show just a few of his snaps for this Blog. I have worked with Scott a lot recently, and along with being a top bloke, he’s always a lot of fun.
Oh, and when I say that I’ve worked with Scott a lot recently, I mean a hell of a lot. Almost uncomfortably so. I’m now at the stage where I fully anticipate getting home from a gig one night to find Scott sitting in my living room.

It wasn’t just photos though. Jonathan & Jess Newton were there to capture Jen & Alex’s wedding at Hampton Manor on video. It was the first time that I had the pleasure of meeting Jess, but I have worked with the very talented Jonathan before. These guys are a pair of fun, upbeat, happy people who are just so incredibly laid back. They are also experts when it comes to floating around your wedding day in an unobtrusive manner, almost being ninja-like as they fly under the radar unnoticed.
But that doesn’t mean that they are half-arsing their work though. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to think of a way to describe the videos that they produce, and the word that comes to my mind the most is ‘soulful’. You can really feel the feels from their work and combining that with their signature cinematic style makes their films a joy to watch - just have a look at the teaser video to see what I mean.

Being the DJ for this wedding party at Hampton Manor was a lot of fun, because Jen and Alex have a wonderful group of friends and family who just know how to have a damn good time. What I learned about the happy couple in the weeks leading up to their wedding was how important music is to them and their loved ones, and their wedding reception was a testament to the power of music. Bringing people together, creating lasting memories, and igniting joy on a designated area that we can all dance on.
