The summer of 2019 has really produced some real barn burners when it comes to Wedding receptions, with Holly & Aidan’s big day being a great example. With it being the first time that I had ever performed as a Wedding DJ at Middleton Hall, I met this delightful young couple there back in May so I can scope out where we’ll be partying and find out what these newlyweds love to dance to. It also gave me a chance to chat to and work with the great team at Francis & James Wedding Planners.
Middleton Hall is a 13th century manor house in Tamworth and I could see why Holly & Aidan wanted to hold their wedding there – the whole building is steeped in history and lies in 42 acres of gardens, woodlands & lakes. I imagine that it’s a photographer’s dream to shoot a wedding here, but my focus was on the Great Hall. With high ceilings and a feature staircase, this room is acoustically brilliant, and the white walls were perfect to colour wash with my lighting. Whilst we wandered around Middleton Hall Holly, Aidan and I learned that there was an option to set up in a different room, but we all decided that the Great Hall was the feature room of the house and that is the dancefloor that we should rock!
Onto the big day itself, we got to work on installing the lighting and sound that complements the Great Hall best. With bright wash lighting and moving head profiles, this theatre-influenced lightshow turned Middleton Hall into a nightclub and with a guest list of 160 people, we bought out the big sound system for that extra OOMPH (one of them technical phrases, that)! More importantly, there was the music. After the formalities were complete Holly, Aidan and Co. danced the night away to tunes by The Stokes, Jet, Mumford & Sons, Prince, Erasure, Wham!, Robin S, Avicii, Paul Johnson, Green Day, Blink-182, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Reel Big Fish, ELO, Neil Diamond and so much more. This was such a good night where the dancefloor was rammed all night long by a great bunch of legends who just wanted to have a good time and just like that audience did, this DJ loved every second of it. Oh look, I took the camera with me again – how convenient!
Perfect days deserve incredible nights and booking a Wedding DJ who takes the time to get to know what you love to dance to really does make the difference. What also makes a difference is having a lightshow and sound system that really complements your venue and has that ‘WOW!’ factor that will leave you and your guests more than suitably impressed. It’s certainly much better to have all of that at your Wedding reception than what you would get from a typical pub function ‘Mobile Disco’!
