What a venue. What a stunning venue. Some venues are too large, some are too small, but Davenport House in Bridgnorth is perfect. Small enough to be intimate whilst big enough to cater for a good sized guest list, and I was delighted to be partying with Helen, Adam and all of their guests as their wedding DJ at Davenport House.
Davenport House is a 17th Century Georgian Country House that is as historic as it is beautiful. The room that we rig for is The Great Hall, and we make sure that the sound and lighting that we install complements the stylish, contemporary décor so that your wedding party looks and sounds amazing.
Which brings us nicely to Helen and Adam’s big day. A few weeks before they tied the knot, I caught up with the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. to find out what it is that they and their guests love, and it certainly was an eclectic mix! The happy couple mentioned artists such as Patrick Topping, UB40, Wham, Reel Big Fish, Chase & Status and DJ Hazard. With that remit, I think that it’s fair to say that we had quite the musical journey to travel in one evening!
And that’s exactly what we did! On the night, accompanied by the sultry sounds of Dr. Dre’s ‘The Next Episode’, Helen & Adam made their grand entrance down the elegant staircase into The Great Hall. With the cake cut and the first dance suitably shuffled along to, Helen & Adam partied hard with their nearest and dearest. Garage, Pop Punk, Dance, Reggae, 80’s Pop, Drum & Bass…we covered a lot that night to make sure that everyone got to hear something that they would enjoy.
On hand to document Helen & Adam’s big day was the award-winning Simon Brettell. Simon has never featured on this Blog before because it’s very rare that our paths cross. That, in itself, is a crying shame, because Simon is so much fun! Just like a lot of our favourite photographers, Simon is as relaxed as the day is long, but that doesn’t mean that he’s half-arsing it. It’s rare that I see photographers work as hard as Simon does while remaining chilled…and I have to admit that being able to poke fun at him here and there is an added bonus!
As you can see from Simon’s photos, Helen, Adam & Co. had a lot of fun dancing the night away in The Great Hall at Davenport House. If you love the photos (and why wouldn’t you?), then I strongly suggest that you check out Simon’s website by clicking here.
