When I arrived at The Riding School at Calke Abbey, Helen from Honeysuckle & Castle greeted me with some foreshadowing words: “This lot are lively…and loud!” This wasn’t a surprise to me as from the off, I had the impression that this was always going to be such a good night. What I wasn’t quite prepared for was how good it was going to be for this particular Wedding DJ.
The Riding School at Calke Abbey is a sizable venue so I get to bring the full lightshow and the big sound system, and that was definitely needed here as Gemma & Miles had a guestlist of 250+! Part way through the first dance, I was tasked with dropping in Andrew W.K.’s ‘Party Hard’ and guests piled onto the dance floor en masse. Gemma & Miles were hoisted up into the air, bodies were bouncing into each other and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the night.
The happy couple wanted to have an eclectic mix on the night and that’s exactly what we did! I played Motown, Soul, Disco, Pop, Rock but the party really got started when I started dropping some Hip-Hop Anthems. Complement that with some great RnB tunes, throw in a bit of dance and round the night off with Pop Punk and that is the story of Gemma & Miles’s wedding disco.
It was a night that I was honoured to play a part of. Guests danced all night long despite the humidity and together, we created a night that will be remembered as one of the best wedding parties that The Riding School at Calke Abbey has ever seen!
Perfect days deserve incredible nights and if you want a DJ that is one clear step ahead of the typical ‘mobile disco’ to rock your dance floor, then click the button below to see if I’m available.
