Charlotte & Dan’s Wedding DJ at Curradine Barns
14 months. That’s how far in advanced Charlotte and Dan had booked me to be their Wedding DJ at Curradine Barns. Now there’s nothing unusual about that but one thing that I did realise while going through our email exchanges is that it took less time to go from the initial “Are you available?” to confirmed booking than it actually did for me to drive to Curradine Barns to entertain Mr. & Mrs. Small and all their guests (including Bubbah Small – more on that later!). I’m pretty sure that is the fastest my booking process has ever been!
With Christmas and New Year well and truly out of the way, it was time to kickstart 2019 with a wedding at a venue that I haven’t been to for a couple of years. Curradine Barns is rustic and contemporary wedding venue that is a based in Shrawley (if you didn’t know, that’s between Worcester and Kidderminster) and it’s a venue that I do enjoy performing at. The room we rig for is small and intimate, but when you add in a quality lightshow and sound system, it really does transform the barn into a great place to party. No standard mobile disco here, thank you very much!
I met up with Charlotte & Dan in October to have a chat about what they like to dance to. By this point, Charlotte was very heavily pregnant and only a few weeks away from dropping – hence why we met up so early. One thing that I noticed about these two is that they are a lovely couple who seemed to have a constant smile on their faces and I started to get an idea of what it is they like – nineties and naughties.
Kodaline’s The One was selected as their first dance and the song after that had to be Country Roads by Hermes House Band. It was a lot of fun entertaining Charlotte, Dan, baby Charlie and all of their guests. Nineties pop was the big winner of the night, but of course there was plenty of room for one of my infamous dance sets! Arms aloft and people singing to some classic 90s dance and cheesy pop will be the lasting memory of the night. Just as well I took the camera with me again!
