April & Ben's Wedding DJ at Grangefields
Up there (well, at least it’s ‘up there’ from where I’m based) in a rather lovely part of the Derbyshire countryside is the newest addition to the Cripps family of venues. It’s a stunning venue by day, and that quality continues after the sun goes down, where things get a little rowdier. April and Ben had their big day earlier this year, and I had the pleasure of being their wedding DJ at Grangefields.
April & Ben are both primary school teachers, and like a lot of those in that profession, they held their wedding during the summer holidays. I rocked up to Grangefields on a glorious sunny day, and on the long private road leading up to the barn, I was greeted by April, Ben, some of their guests as well as their photographer, Jon Thorne. Well, I said that “I was greeted”, but what I actually meant was that I had purposely stopped my van directly in front of Jon to prevent him from taking the photo of the wedding party that he wanted. Oooo…that mean DJ!
In the weeks leading up to their wedding, I caught up with the happy couple, and it was during our chat that they told me what it is that they and their guests love. From Killers & Oasis to Dave & Stormzy, and everything in between, this crowd were an eclectic lot.
Halfway through their first dance of Clinton Kane’s I Guess I’m In Love, April & Ben’s guests piled onto the dance floor. From 80s classics to the big anthems from when they went to university, April, Ben & Co. danced the night away – it’s always fun partying at a wedding with a bunch of teachers!

Perfect days deserve incredible nights, and rocking the dance floor at a Cripps venue is always a lot of fun. Now that I have added Grangefields to the list of ‘Venues Where We Can Have A Damn Good Party!’, I dare say that I may be taking a trip ‘Ooop norf’ more often in the future.
