Anna’s Birthday Party DJ at Greswolde Arms Hotel

Happy birthday to Anna and what a great night we had celebrating at Greswolde Arms Hotel in Knowle. The night was billed as a 70s themed party and as a result, there was plenty of fancy dress from flares, to big wigs and even someone dressed as Freddie Mercury.  What a night to be a Party DJ!

Needless to say, 70s disco played a role during the night and with Anna having family who had flown in from Sweden, Abba may have been played once or twice. Believe it or not though, it’s wasn’t 70s music that will be the everlasting memory from this party. Instead, that accolade goes to UK Garage.

Well, of course it did. What else would you play at a 70s themed party?

When we met up to have a chat about music, Anna told me how much she and her friends enjoy Old Skool UK Garage and Grime. Not just the usual suspects either! It had been a while since I played Oxide & Neutrino’s Bound 4 Da Reload and Deekline’s I Don’t Smoke but when I dropped those bangers, guests were jumping with their hands in the air in a way that can only be described as ‘desperately trying to catch a winning lottery ticket falling from the sky!”
