I’m proud of my association with the Cripps family of wedding venues. Over the years, I have worked many times at the stunning locations that they have in their portfolio, and I am truly blessed to be a preferred supplier of DJ entertainment for several of them. One of those venues is Thorpe Garden in Tamworth, and I was back there in the summer to party with Andreia, Andrew and all of their guests.
Sometimes, there are weddings where the Bride’s family is from one part of the world and the Groom’s family is from another, and that is not unusual in my line of work. The diversity that we have here in the UK quite often gives me the opportunity to do something a little bit different, and that was definitely the case for Andreia & Andrew’s big day.
With Andreia and her clan all hailing from Brazil, this wedding party certainly had some South American vibes peppered throughout the night, with the first dance of Noriel Vilela’s ‘16 Toneladas’ setting the tone. Complement those Portuguese-American vibes with Indie Rock, House, a little bit of Ibiza Trance, Rock ‘n’ Roll and some 80s Power Ballads, the wide range in music certainly kept this multinational wedding dance floor busy despite the epic summer temperature inside Thorpe Garden’s Yurt.
Indeed, it was a very hot summer’s day, with the aircon in the Yurt having to work overtime. I knew in advanced that this wedding DJ will be needing to dig out his shorts for the load in and out. How did I get advanced knowledge of needing shorts? Well, dear reader, that was because I was getting updates from The Last Of The Light’s very own Darren Gair! Regular readers of this blog will know that Darren is certainly a favourite round these parts and when you see his photos, it’s easy to understand why Andreia & Andrew booked him to document their wedding. I dare say that's also the reason why he too is a preferred supplier for Thorpe Garden.
Being able to capture beautiful and natural moments in wedding photography whilst being unobtrusive is a skill very few photographers possess, but Darren has it nailed down to a tee. I’ve always been a huge fan of Darren’s work, and being able to show you just a few of his photos on this blog genuinely makes me smile.
