Elaine & Craig's Wedding DJ at Hyde House & Barn

I like going to The Cotswolds. It’s huge and incredibly beautiful so I love it when I get a chance to rock a dancefloor in the area – especially at a venue like Hyde House & Barn. Elaine & Craig booked me as their Professional Wedding DJ there and what a night it was!

Mid-week weddings tend to have a bit of a reputation of being quieter than those being held on the more traditional day of Saturday. I’m assuming that nobody informed Elaine, Craig and Co. of this ‘fact’ as they all seemed pretty adamant that they were all going to end this perfect day with an incredible night.

A mentality even more impressive on Craig’s part, who managed to injure his knee on his stag do. I’m not going to lie: I thought it would have been hilarious to see Elaine show some solidarity by having them both do the first dance on crutches. Turns out that neither needed the crutches and after they cut the cake, the happy couple put together a first dance routine that was pretty damn epic (with the help of a knee brace for Craig and a costume change for Elaine!).

My remit was to play a wide range of music so that everyone had a chance to hear and dance to what they love and that’s exactly what happened. Whether they enjoy some disco, soul, pop, dance, indie, pop-punk, 80s…it was all covered and then some! Putting feet on the dancefloor and smiles on faces is exactly why I do this job and I’m glad that I had the old picture taking machine with me again, so I can grab some shots of guests shaking their money makers!

The team at Hyde House & Barn were a joy to work with on the night and are a real credit to such a stunning venue. The room we rig for has neutral coloured walls, which are perfect for my wash lighting and the space is very nice acoustically. Every time I’m there, I always set up in the alcove and – even if I do say so myself – it looks fantastic. Almost as if my setup and the Barn were made for each other!
