Becky & Paul's Wedding DJ at Swallows Nest Barn
If you delve into the dark corners of this website, you may come across a blog post that I wrote about 18 months ago where I mentioned a particular wedding that came as a result of a previous wedding, which in turn was the result of a recommendation from a wedding before that (still with me? If not, don’t worry – I had to write that section four or five times before it started making sense to me!). Well today, I’m here to write about yet another wedding that stems from not the last one that I blogged about, but the one from before it…which came as a result of the one bef…I’ve confused myself again. Let’s just move on!
A lot of the couples that I meet up with can be very wary to tell me what music they really love because they have it in their heads that their favourite songs and genres aren’t ‘appropriate’ for a wedding and I completely understand why they think that – we’ve all been conditioned to believe that all weddings must have certain songs played and when we hear the words Mobile Disco or Wedding DJ, there’s a good chance that we’re all imagining the same thing. Now, this is not me saying that I go completely against the grain – I believe that we should respect the traditions of years gone by, but that doesn’t mean that we have to recreate exactly what your mom and dad had at their wedding 30 years ago. Your wedding should cater for everyone but should still be YOUR wedding. If your biggest fear for your evening reception is a line of your guests self-consciously following the instructions of DJ Casper, then I would suggest [encourage] not to have DJ Casper or his ilk feature during your party.
That brings us to Becky and Paul, an incredibly nice couple who had recently gotten married at Swallows Nest Barn in Warwick. I sat down with them at a pub not too far away from where they live and after a while, I started to coax out of them what it is they truly love. They mentioned that they listen to radio stations such as Absolute Radio and Radio X, but then mentioned artists such as Metallica, Korn, AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Motörhead as among their favourites. Of course, I made lots of notes but at the same time, I had a feeling that I’ll be learning more about what Becky, Paul and all of their guests love to dance to on the night itself.
And what a night it was! Swallows Nest Barn is always a great place to perform as a Professional Wedding DJ and each time I’ve been there, it’s always been a different kind of night. This time around, it was Pop Punk that elicited cheers of joy and when I complemented those songs with tracks from Papa Roach, Paramore, Puddle Of Mudd, Limp Bizkit, Jimmy Eat World, OPM, Wheatus, The Darkness and much more, we created a night that will be remembered for years to come. Needless to say, this was never destined to be a typical Wedding Disco!
Becky & Paul - along with all of their guests - were an absolute joy to perform for and having their party at Swallows Nest Barn really added to the occasion.
